
Stars Fall in Final Seconds to Warriors

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, came up short against the Santa Cruz Warriors 132-129 at Kaiser Permanente Arena tonight.
The Stars were led by Utah Jazz two-way player Micah Potter, who finished with 25 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Five other Stars players scored in double-figures. Jeenathan Williams came off the bench to score 20 points on 7-of-10 (.700) shooting, including 4-of-5 (.750) from long distance. Frank Jackson and Christian Vital added 19 points respectively, while Isaiah Miller netted 13 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Tyler Cook led the team in rebounds with nine, adding an additional 18 points and two assists.
Lester Quinones paced the Warriors with a game-high 46 points in 35 minutes of play, notching a double-double with 12 rebounds. Guard Dusty Hannahs recorded a 30-point performance, totaling 30 points on 11-of-16 shooting, and 6-of-9 from behind the arc. Elijah Pemberton (13 points) and Gui Santos (13 points) also scored in double figures for Santa Cruz.
Santa Cruz jumped out in the first quarter forcing five turnovers and grabbing their biggest 18-point lead of the night against the Stars with 1:39 left to play in the opening quarter. The Stars fought back against the Warriors, outscoring them 32-25 in the second frame, and shaving Santa Cruz's lead to only three points.
Salt Lake City opened the third quarter on a 6-0 run, taking their first lead of the night. The Stars' comeback sent them up 95-89 into the final frame. However, with only 2:43 to play, the Warriors crawled their way back reclaiming the lead as the back-and-forth fight to the finish began. Guard Dusty Hannahs jump shot sent the Warriors ahead for the final time of the night with just thirty seconds to play. The Santa Cruz Warriors claimed the victory at the final buzzer, 132-129.
The Stars will return home to host the South Bay Lakers on Sunday, Mar. 19 at 3 p.m. (MT), which will stream live on NBAGLeague.com.
