Fargo, N.D. - The Force pumped the Stars for an 8-5 victory on Friday night in Scheels Arena.
The Stars opened the scoring one minute into the opening period with Biagio Lerario's 13th goal of the season.
Fargo answered quickly with three goals in eight minutes to make it 3-1 before Stars goalie Patrik Virtanen replaced Peyton Jones.
Tanner Laczynski cut the lead in half at 9:14 of the first, but the Force responded with two more goals to take a 5-2 lead at the first intermission.
Denis Smirnov logged three goals and one assist in the opening period - he finished with four goals and one assist.
Fargo continued to pound offensively in the second with a pair of goals to make it 7-2 after 40 minutes.
The Stars clawed back with three goals in the third period, but the comeback fell short when the Force tacked on an empty netter to make it an 8-5 final.
Patrik Virtanen finished with 22 saves. The teams will meet tomorrow night in Scheels Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:05 pm.
