Kearney, Neb. - The Stars fell 5-2 to the Tri-City Storm on Saturday night.
Jason Krych opened the scoring midway through the first period after finding a loose puck in the left circle and firing under the blocker arm of Stars goalie Peyton Jones.
The Stars dominated the second period, scoring less than two minutes into the frame when forward Adam Brady notched his first goal of the preseason with a wrist shot over the right shoulder of Storm goalie Jake Kielly.
The Storm stole the lead at 17:37 of the second when forward Monte Graham deflected a centering feed from forward Austen Long past Jones, but the lead wouldn't hold for long.
With one minute left in the second, Stars forward Jack Badini caught a pass from forward Henry Bowlby and tapped it behind Kielly to make it 2-2 at the second intermission.
Tri-City regained the lead in the third period, getting goals from Storm forward Alex Limoges and Jake Wahlin before Dan Labosky slid in an empty-netter to make it a 5-2 final.
The Stars return to the Ice Box on September 17 vs. Fargo for The Ticket FM Battle in Lincoln.
