SIOUX CITY, IA - Kris Oldham stopped all 22 shots he faced in 29:39 played however the lone goal of the night came from Niklas Lehtimaki as the Sioux City Musketeers defeated the Omaha Lancers 1-0 at the IBP Ice Center on Saturday night.

After several big saves by Kris Oldham, he was replaced by Zackarias Skog with 10:21 to go in the second period of action. On the night, the Anchorage, Alaska native stopped all 22 shots he faced from the Musketeers.

Late in the second period the Lancers had their best chance of the night. Ben DiMaio sent a saucer pass through defenders and onto the stick of forward Austin Lemieux at the blue line. Lemieux went in all alone but was denied by Sioux City's netminder Luke Kania, who picked up the shutout.

The game's only goal came just before midway through the final period. While working the puck below the goal line, Niklas Lehtimaki sent a shot off a defender skate to the left of goaltender Zackarias Skog and into the net for his first of the preseason for the 1-0 advantage. Assists on the eventual game-winning goal were credited to Jake Durflinger and Brian Rigali.

The final shots on net favored the Musketeers 28-15 and the Lancers moved to 1-1 in the preseason.

The Omaha Lancers return to Ralston Arena twice next week for two more exhibition contests. Thursday the Lancers face EC Red Bull Salzburg (Austria) and Friday the defending Clark Cup Champion Sioux Falls Stampede. Both games will take place on the main ice inside Ralston Arena at 7:05pm.
