Tri-City Storm News Release
LINCOLN, Ne. - Dan Labosky's three-on-three overtime goal secured a 3-2 victory against the Lincoln Stars Friday from The Ice Box.
Starting from the left wing, Labosky streamed up the ice, gained the blue line, angled to the left circle, and fired past Cayden Primeau for his second goal of the night with 1:50 remaining in the extra session.
Tri-City earned its first win of the preseason and plays the back end of a home-and-home with the Stars at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, at the Viaero Event Center, Tri-City's only home preseason game.
The Storm fought off two comebacks before ending the game in overtime. Tri-City held a pair of one-goal leads, but Lincoln tied the game twice.
Matt Greenfield earned the win for the Storm. The Stars split goaltending duties between Patrick Vertanen and Primeau, replacing Vertanen with just under ten minutes to go in the second.
Labosky started the Storm scoring 64 seconds into the first, taking a feed from Jason Krych and potting his first preseason goal. Krych received the lone assist on the goal against Vertanen.
Lincoln tied the contest with about seven minutes left in the first after a short-handed goal from Carson Gicewicz.
Tri-City broke the tie in the second. Austen Long ripped a shot from the right wing off the rush, giving Tri-City the edge at the 5:27 mark. Monte Graham earned the only assist.
Long has two goals and five points through the first three preseason games, leading all Storm players. --
Lincoln tied the score at the 17:46 mark of the second. Ludvig Hoff deflected in a puck from the left wing past Greenfield after the initial pass from Patrick Polino was saved.
Storm single-game tickets are on sale, including tickets for the Storm's home preseason game, Saturday, September 12, at 4 p.m. against the Lincoln Stars. Tickets are free for season ticket holders and five dollars for the general public.
Tri-City kicks off the regular season on Friday, September 25, at 7:30 p.m. against Omaha.
