Tri-City Storm News Release

KEARNEY, Ne. - The Tri-City Storm clicked in the third period, rattling off three goals to break a 2-2 tie and carry Tri-City past the Lincoln Stars, 5-2, Saturday from the Viaero Event Center.

Alex Limoges, Jake Wahlin and Dan Labosky scored the final-period goals and helped Tri-City beat the Stars for the second straight day.

Tri-City has won its last two preseason games after falling to Des Moines in a pair of preseason games to start the exhibition slate.

Limoges started the final-frame tallies with a wrist shot to the top shelf that beat Patrick Virtanen. Starting from the left wing, Limoges found space, took a feed from Dan Labosky, and sniped the puck to the top right corner at the 2:00 mark of the third. Carson Meyer earned a secondary assist.

John Marino helped start the next goal on the powerplay, chipping the puck to the center point for Mattias Goransson. The Swedish defenseman found Wahlin on the left wing, and Wahlin deposited the biscuit to the upper-right portion of the twine. The goal at 13:12 of the third gave Tri-City a 4-2 edge.

With time running down in the third, Lincoln pulled goalie Patrick Virtanen, who allowed three goals filling in for starter Peyton Jones. With the net empty, Dan Labosky took a defensive-zone feed from Carson Meyer, gained the zone, broke away, and scored into an empty net icing the game with 30 seconds left.

Labosky has scored three goals in the past two games and finished the weekend series with four points.

The goals provided enough cushion for Jake Kielly, who earned the win and made 29 stops. Tri-City outshot Lincoln, 42-31.

Before the third-period onslaught, Lincoln came back from a pair of one-goal deficits for the second straight game.

Jason Krych scored the game's first goal at the 9:45 mark of the first, shuttling the puck under starting goalie Peyton Jones' right blocker. Brian Hawkinson and Austen Long earned assists.

Despite allowing a Lincoln goal near the end of the first, Tri-City kept the pressure on, outshooting Lincoln 24-11 in the opening period.

Monte Graham got Tri-City back on the board in the second to take a 2-1 edge, receiving a right-corner pass from Long and deflecting it off his right skate for his second preseason goal at 17:47. Hawkinson earned a secondary assist.

Storm single-game tickets are on sale for the regular-season opener, Friday, September 25, at 7:30 p.m. against the Omaha Lancers.
