Stars Acquire EJ Anosike

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, announced today the acquisition of forward EJ Anosike from the available player pool. In a related move, the team waived forward Kenny Wooten.

Anosike (6-7, 245, Cal State Fullerton) comes to the Stars with 149 games (95 starts) of collegiate experience since 2017-18. The 24-year-old forward has had stops with Sacred Heart, Tennessee and Cal State Fullerton owning career averages of 11.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 24.6 minutes a game.

Most recently, the East Orange, N.J., native spent the 2021-22 season with Cal State Fullerton where he appeared in 32 games with all 32 starts, averaging a team-high 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds per game in 32.7 minutes. During his time as a Titan, he was named Big West Newcomer of the Year and First-Team All-Conference.

Prior to his time at Cal, Anosike played three seasons for Scared Heart (2017-20) and the 2020-21 season with Tennessee. During his time at Sacred Heart, he appeared in 95 games (63 starts), averaging 11.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists. While in his single-season at Tennessee, the 6-8 forward averaged 1.7 points and 1.9 rebounds during 22 games played.

Wooten did not appear in any games for Salt Lake City.

The Stars will host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (Houston Rockets affiliate) on Saturday, Feb. 4 at Vivint Arena, in partnership with the Jr. Jazz program.
