After nursing soreness, Two-Way Player DaQuan Jeffries returned tonight stuffing the stat sheet with 33 points (11-21), a season-high 11 rebounds, seven free-throw points, two steals and four triples made. Obadiah Noel (available player pool) scored 18 points-10 of which came at the line, five rebounds and three assists. In a reserve role, James Akinjo (affiliate) racked in another double-double consisting of 13 points and 12 dimes. Quinton Rose (returning rights) and Nuni Omot (affiliate) finished with 14 and 13 respective points.
AJ Green was the high scorer for the Herd (5-10) notching 24 points on 9-24 shooting, 6-15 from distance. Alize Johnson had a 14-point 16-rebound double-double. Joe Wisekamp gave a 18-point effort. Jordan Bone dished seven helpers.
Wisconsin surrendered a 73-54 lead to Westchester. Jeffries played a large part in that scoring 20 points by the break. The Knicks led by as many as 19 points at that checkpoint and held the advantage in paint points (26-24), second-chance points (9-5) and fast break points (7-5) helping their cause.
The Herd outscored the Knicks in the third quarter 32-23 and in the fourth, 25-19, but trailed by 10 before the fourth quarter's start, 96-86 and for the final. The Herd's fourth-quarter prowess came in large part to their perimeter defense and despite the four lead changes, Westchester regained custody of the lead when it mattered most. The Knicks recovered a lead with 49 seconds remaining and forced Herd empty possessions to protect their victory.
Monday, February 6, the Knicks face the College Park Skyhawks at 7 PM ET at Gateway Center Arena.
