Windsor Spitfires News Release

The Windsor Spitfires are pleased to announce a pair of the clubs rookies - defenceman Logan Stanley and centre Logan Brown - have been named to represent Canada at this year's World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

"Congratulations to both players," Spitfires General Manager Warren Rychel offered, upon them being named. "Both of them had a great summer and worked hard. We're very proud that they are taking their first steps into Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence and we know both will play well and represent our team proudly."

This year's event will be held in the city of Sarnia and Municipality of Lambton Shores, from November 2nd to 8th.

Sarnia joins Sudbury (1992), Kitchener (1998), Timmins (2000 and 2010), London (2008) and Windsor (2012) as cities in Ontario to host the event.

Both players were elated to hear the news.

"It's a huge honour to represent the Spitfires and Canada at this event," Stanley said. "I had a great experience at the orientation camp this summer and hoped this would happen. It's a dream come true."

Brown, a dual citizen born in St Louis, has chosen to play for Canada.

"This is a big step in my hockey career and I'm thankful to have been chosen," Brown said. "I think we've got a great team and I can't wait for the tournament."

Under a new format, Canada will have three teams entered in the tournament, along with teams from Finland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden and the United States. Both Stanley and Brown will suit up for "Canada Red".
