
Pezzetta Named to Canada U17 Team

The Sudbury Wolves would like to congratulate 1st round selection Michael Pezzetta for being named to TEAM CANADA WHITE as the Mississauga native will compete in the U17 World Challenge Tournament to be held in Sarnia, Ontario in November. Pezzetta, was selected 11th overall in the OHL Priority Selection had an outstanding OHL Gold Cup tournament and national team summer camp that earned the skilled forward a roster spot on the national team.
Pezzetta, 16, is 6'1", 200 lbs and was the captain of the Mississauga Senators minor midget team last season and led his team in scoring. The Sudbury Wolves selected the rugged centreman as their 1st round selection and are very proud of Michael's accomplishments early in his OHL career. Pezzetta opened the scoring for the Sudbury Wolves in the Wolves' 3-1 win in their season-opener over the IceDogs.
"Michael is the kind of forward that we want to build our team around and Hockey Canada's National team program is looking to do the same" notes Wolves' GM Blaine Smith. "Hockey Canada has made a great selection in choosing Michael to represent our country and we know he will also do the City of Greater Sudbury and the Sudbury Wolves proud on the world stage."
Pezzetta will participate in the World U17 tournament from October 29th until November 9th in Sarnia. The national event features the best 16-year-old players in the world. There will be plenty of NHL scouts on hand as they get an early-look at aspiring top players that will be eligible for the NHL draft in 2016.
Hockey Canada officials have also confirmed that Wolves' defenceman Trenton Bourque and forward Brady Pataki will continue to be evaluated by Hockey Canada. Their development with the Sudbury Wolves will allow them to remain on the priority list as candidates for future national teams.
