Cliff Pu Named to Hockey Canada's Under-17 Roster

Oshawa, ON - Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League announced today that Cliff Pu of the Oshawa Generals has been named to Canada's U-17 Hockey Challenge roster. The tournament will be the first to feature three Canadian national teams - Black, Red, and White with Pu representing Team Canada Black.

The U-17 Hockey Challenge brings together the top players in the world born in 1998 or later. The under-17 program is the first step in Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence. Many players who compete at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge go on to represent Canada with the National Men's Under-18 Team, National Junior Team, and National Men's Team.

The Oshawa Generals selected Cliff Pu in the first round of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection. Pu, a native of Richmond Hill, ON is a 6'1" right-winger and is expected to have an strong rookie season with the Generals.

Many former and current Generals have played in Canada's U-17 tournament including Scott Laughton, Daniel Altshuller, Michael Dal Colle, Mitchell Vande Sompel, and Sam Harding, to name a few.

Oshawa Generals General Manager, Roger Hunt says, "It's a great accomplishment for Cliff to be name to the roster of Team Canada's U-17 program. His hard work in the summer at the Gold Cup and summer training camp has paid dividends. We look forward to having Cliff back in our lineup and we will be behind him 100% with Team Canada."
