OTTAWA -- Travis Barron, a rookie forward with the Ottawa 67's, has been selected as one of 66 Canadian players who will take part in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, November 2-8 in Sarnia-Lambton, ON.

Barron, a 16-year-old winger from Belfountain, ON, was selected third overall in the 2014 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. He had a goal and assist during three pre-season games with the 67's last month.

"It's a great honour for Travis and it's a great honour for the 67's for our player to be selected to the Under-17 program," said 67's general manager Pat Higgins.

Also among the players selected was Logan Brown, a forward with the Windsor Spitfires, son of 67's head coach Jeff Brown.

"We wish Travis and Logan the best of luck at the tournament," said Higgins.

The 67's continue the 2014-15 OHL regular season with games in Oshawa on Friday, Barrie on Saturday and Owen Sound on Sunday.

The team opens the 2014-15 home schedule on Friday, October 10 at TD Place arena at Lansdowne against the Niagara IceDogs. Face-off is at 7:30 p.m.
