
Kirwan Lifts Spits over Colts in OT

Luke Kirwan scored the overtime winner with just 16 seconds to play, lifting the Spitfires to a 4-3 win over the Barrie Colts Thursday night at the WFCU Centre.
Aaron Luchuk (1), Logan Brown (2) and Chris Marchese (2) had the other goals for Windsor (1-2-0-0), which won its first game of the season in dramatic fashion.
Trailing 2-0 after 20 minutes, the Spitfires got a spark from Luchuk's first OHL goal; a hard wrister that beat MacKenzie Blackwood (41 saves) to the glove side.
Brown's second in as many games tied things at 2-2 at the 7:13 mark, off a tidy feed from Marchese (1G, 1A).
Marchese and Blandisi traded goals late in the frame, squaring the game again through two periods. The third period was all Alex Fotinos, who made 13 of his 30 saves with the game on the line, getting the Spits to the extra frame.
Trevor Murphy chipped in a pair of assists.
Joseph Blandisi had a goal and an for Barrie. Nick Pastorius and Andrew Mangiapane had the other goals for Barrie (1-2-0-0).
The Spits will look to build on tonight's win as they host the Saginaw Spirit Saturday at the WFCU Centre.
