(Calgary) – Today Calgary Stampeders' General Manager and Head Coach Matt Dunigan announced the re-signing of Running Back Ronney Jenkins. Jenkins joined the Stampeders back on September 21, 2004 after playing 4 seasons in the NFL. In 2001 Ronney was named the San Diego Chargers Special Teams Player of the Year leading the NFL with a 26.6 yard average on kickoff returns ... Jenkins, who was named the first alternate for the NFL's all star game, set a team record with 1,541 kickoff return yards that season.

He bettered his previous team record by 10 yards, doing so on nine fewer returns than it took him to set the previous record in 2000 ...In the Chargers game in Oakland, Jenkins set a team record with 250 kickoff return yards, including a spectacular 93-yard touchdown return and a 67-yard return on the opening kickoff of the second half ... His 93-yard return tied a career long and equalled the sixth-longest in team history .... It was his third return for a touchdown and his second of the season, tying Andre Coleman's team record for the most touchdowns returns in a season ... Jenkins was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the month for October ... Second team All-Big Sky Conference performer in 1999 ... became only eighth running back in school history to rush for over 1,000 yards ... tied for team high with 67 catches while ranking second with 716 receiving yards and 10 scores ... his 10 touchdown catches set school record for running backs ... first Lumberjacks running back to record 100 rushing and receiving yards in same game ... played at Brigham Young University in 1997 and 1998 ... second team All-WAC pick in 1998 after rushing for 1,307 yards and 12 touchdowns ... ranks sixth on BYU career charts with 2,040 rushing yards and 174 points scored ... named WAC Freshman of Year in 1997 after rushing for 733 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Jenkins is a parks and recreation major ... All-CIF and all-country selection at Hueneme High School in Oxnard, California ... lettered in football, basketball and track ... As a prep at Oxnard, California's Point Hueneme High School, Jenkins set a national high-school record when he rushed for 619 yards and seven touchdowns in a single game ... during the summer, Jenkins retuned to his alma mater to host a two-day football camp with the proceed from the camp going to the school's athletic programs ... Aside from the camp, Jenkins has made several visits to the Oxnard campus to speak with students about life skills and the importance of staying in school ... A youth leadership major in college, Jenkins would like to work with at-risk kids when his playing days come to a conclusion ... Jenkins admits that he gets his soft hand for dealing with youth from his grandmother, Jean Cobbs ... During his formative years in junior high and high school, it was Cobbs who raised Jenkins and took him into her home to get him into an environment where he could succeed in athletics ... Jenkins holds a special place in his heart for his grandmother who not only raised him, but also nine kids of her own while living on a fixed income ...An interesting medical fact about Jenkins is that he lives and plays football despite only having one kidney, the result of a bicycle accident when he was six years old.
