Stampede slam past Tulsa in home game winner

BOISE, Idaho - Firing on all pistons the Stampede defeated the Tulsa 66ers 124-113 in Boise.

Idaho took hold of the lead early on in the first quarter with the help of Donell Taylor who finished the first with 11 points and two assists and Andre Barrett who finished with eight points. The bench answered the call for Tulsa with Latavious Williams scoring 11 points.

By the end of the first half, Idaho had four players in double-figures including Taylor, Lance Allred, Coby Karl and Barrett. Idaho maintained a comfortable lead over the 66ers, up 67-56.

Tulsa climbed back in the third quarter leading 86-83 over Idaho. Byron Mullens and Williams both scored 21 points to finish the third. However, the Stampede hung-in and pushed six players into double-figures.

The fourth quarter proved to be a show for the fans as the Stampede fought their way back into the lead and took over the game. With 3:47 left Lance Hurdle hit a three pushing the lead up to eight and the Stampede never looked back. Donell Taylor finished the game with a lay-up earning a team high 25 points. Barrett and Joe Dabbert earned double-doubles with 23 points, 11 assists and 21 points and ten rebounds, respectively. Finishing in double-figures for Idaho were Coby Karl with 16 points, Lance Allred with 12 and Yemi Ogunoye coming off the bench to contribute 15 points.

"I thought we came out and played with great purpose," said Idaho Stampede Head Coach Bob MacKinnon. "As they made their runs in the second half we kept our composure and were able to answer back and win the game."

Tulsa stays in Boise and will take on the Idaho Stampede again tomorrow night. Tipoff is at 7:00 pm.
