Tulsa 66ers News Release

BOISE, Idaho - Despite a team-high 22 points from Larry Owens, the Tulsa 66ers fell for the second straight night to the Idaho Stampede 110-95 Saturday night at Qwest Arena in Boise. Oklahoma City Thunder assigned center Byron Mullens pitched in with 18 points, five rebounds and a block.

In nearly a carbon copy of the previous nights game, the Stampede raced out from the opening tip on a 10-2 run, capped by two free throws by Joe Dabbert with 8:53 remaining in the first quarter. The 66ers fought back to within 14-12 after five straight points by Mullens and a free throw by Owens with 4:47 left. Tulsa was able to tie the game up at 19 after a three-point play by Latavious Williams, and an Owens thunder dunk tied the game at 25 at the end of the quarter. The 66ers shot 9-of-26 in the quarter, and out rebounded the Stampede 15-10, as Mullens and Williams each scored seven points. The Stampede shot 10-for-18 from the field, as Donell Taylor and Dabbert each scored six.

The 66ers looked to gain control at the start of the second quarter, hitting their first 10 shots which sparked an 11-3 run and gave them a 46-38 advantage with 5:24 left in the half after a Mullens lay in. But the Stampede held on and finished the first half on a 14-4 run, and took a 52-50 lead into halftime. Taylor scored 10 points in the period, as Idaho went 11-for-19 from the field. Owens collected 11 points, as Tulsa shot 11-for-17 from the field, but committed nine turnovers in the quarter.

Lance Allred scored on three straight jumpers en route to 10 points during a 19-4 Stampede run to begin the second half, giving Idaho a 71-60 lead with 4:29 remaining in the third quarter. Moses Ehambe sparked an 11-4 run for the 66ers, connecting on two three-pointers and a lay up, to bring Tulsa to within 75-71 with under a minute remaining in the period. The Stampede outscored the 66ers 27-21 in the third quarter, as they took a 79-71 lead at the break. Allred had 12 third-quarter points, as the Stampede shot 44 percent compared to 39.1 percent (9-23) for the 66ers, and out rebounded Tulsa 16-9 in the quarter.

An 8-2 run by the Stampede to start the fourth quarter pushed their lead to 87-73 with 10:02 remaining in the game, following two Lance Hurdle free throws. Idaho built as much as a 17-point lead in the final stanza, and even though the 66ers shot 50 percent (7-of-14) in the quarter behind Ehambe's nine points, it was too much to overcome.

Led by Owens, the 66ers (23-20) finished with four players in double-figures scoring. Ehambe connected on five three-pointers en route to 21 points off the bench, while Williams added 14 points and five rebounds. Deron Washington nearly had a triple-double with eight points, 11 rebounds and nine assists.

The Stampede (22-22) finished with four starters in double-figures, led by Taylor with a game-high 30 points. Allred and Dabbert each had double-doubles with 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 17 points, 12 rebounds respectively. Andre Barrett added 15 points.

The 66ers, who have lost six-straight on the road and four overall, will be glad to return home to the Tulsa Convention Center, where they have won six-straight games. On Thursday, Mar. 25 they will face the Bakersfield Jam, then Friday the 26th and Sunday the 28th against the Albuquerque Thunderbirds.
