BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Stampede were defeated by the Los Angeles D-Fenders 133-124 in the first night of a back to back series.
Manny Harris got the D-Fenders (9-7) out to a quick start in the first quarter, scoring 21 of his 49 points in the frame. However, Los Angeles allowed 22 points in the paint to the Stampede (11-8) and gave up a first quarter season-high 40 points. Trailing by four entering the second, the D-Fenders got solid production from their bench and totaled a second quarter season-high 36 points to turn the deficit into a two-point advantage at the half.
The third quarter went back-and-forth featuring five lead changes and three ties while highlighting another high scoring affair. Despite the close first three quarters, Los Angeles was able to put it all together in the fourth quarter, pulling away from Idaho thanks to a stellar 61.9 field goal percentage.
The Stampede were led by Pierre Jackson with 28 points and eight assists. Richard Howell (24 points, 12 rebounds), Kevin Murphy (21 points) and Dee Bost (20 points, seven assists, seven rebounds) all contributed with 20-point efforts. EJ Singler made all four 3-point attempts in his first game back from injuring his knee. Despite the loss, the Stampede shot 51 percent from the floor.
Manny Harris led Los Angeles with a franchise record 49 points. Six other players scored in double figures for the D-Fenders, including 41 points coming from the bench.
The two teams will meet again Saturday, January 11 at CenturyLink Arena.
