St. Cloud Scores a Season High 15 Runs in Win

Waterloo, IA - St. Cloud (10-9) scored a season high fifteen runs off eighteen hits as the offense carried the team to a convincing, 15-7 win over the Waterloo Bucks. Ryland Kerr (Eastern Kentucky) powered the offense with three hits and two RBI, as two of the hits were off the outfield wall. Evan Johnson (Creighton) notched the win.

The Rox scored first for their fifth game in a row, as the took an early 2-0 lead. Bobby Seymour (Wake Forest) singled to left field in the away half of the inning. Waterloo responded with two runs of their own and tied the game after the first inning.

Kerr would keep the hitting going in the second inning, when he doubled off the center field wall and brought home Hance Smith (UC-Berkeley) to reclaim the lead. The Rox wouldn't look back in the game. By the end of the inning, St. Cloud held a 5-2 lead.

The fourth inning featured more runs for St. Cloud as they scored four more runs. Landon Stephens (Miami-Ohio) started the scoring with a single to left field and scored Kerr. Connor Aube (UT-Arlington) then doubled to left field that scored Ryan Weisenberg (Georgetown) and Stephens. Jack Barrie (Northwestern-Ohio) would later score on a dropped third strike that rolled to the backstop. The Rox had a commanding, 9-3 lead after four innings.

St. Cloud would tack on three runs in the fifth and ninth innings to get to fifteen runs. Waterloo, who hadn't scored since the third inning, pushed four runs across in the home half of the ninth inning. The two teams combined for thirty-three base hits in the game.

Carlo Graffeo (Minnesota State-Mankato) started for the Rox and pitched three innings, allowing four hits. Johnson also pitched three innings, striking out two batters and allowing no runs. Landon Clifton (Louisiana State-Eunice) made his second appearance of the season, tossing two innings and striking out four batters.

The nine-inning game was four hours and eleven minutes long, which is fifth all-time in the 25 years of the Northwoods League. St. Cloud will aim to sweep Waterloo Sunday afternoon, with a 2:05 first pitch time at Riverfront Stadium.
