St. Cloud Rox Fall to the Border Cats Wednesday, 4-3

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox and the Thunder Bay Border Cats completed game three at Faber Field Wednesday night as the Rox fell 4-3 in a battle towards the end.

The Rox took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Bradley Strong was the lead off batter for St. Cloud earning a walk off six pitches but was then caught stealing for the first out of the inning. With two outs on the board Adam Martin hit a bomb over the left field fence for the lead and it makes him the leader in the Northwoods League for home runs with 10.

Scoring went stagnant until the bottom of the fifth as St. Cloud extended their lead 2-0. Charlie Morgan led off the inning posting a single and moved to second off a sacrifice hit. Strong scored Morgan as he batted a two-out double to extend the Rox lead.

Thunder Bay would tie the game up and then take their first lead of the game in the top of the eighth. A single would score one run, as a ground out to short would tie the game up at two each. Kyle Hann would single with two outs taking the Border Cats to a 3-2 lead over the Rox.

Martin would get the bats going for the Rox in the bottom of the eighth with a lead off single, followed by Luke Weber hitting a single as well. Devin Pearson came into pinch run for Martin at second and as Vincent Jackson would reach on an error by the right fielder the Rox would score to tie the game up 3-3.

The top of the ninth showed big for the Border Cats as they came back scoring off a single to regain a lead 4-3.

Thunder Bay would stop the Rox in the ninth with three up and three down to seal a 4-3 victory over St. Cloud in game three.

Starting on the mound was Kyle Fischer as he pitched eight innings on the mound for the Rox. Kyle Murray would come into the game in the ninth allowing one run and recording the loss. Also seeing action in the ninth was Adam Maxon as he came into close out the top half of the inning.

The St. Cloud Times Rox' Player of the Game is Kyle Fischer. Fischer earned thestart on the mound for the Rox tonight going eight innings striking out seven.

The St. Cloud Rox (18-24, 4-3 Second Half) and the Thunder Bay Border Cats (15-27, 2-5 Second Half) will be back Thursday night for their final game of the series in St. Cloud. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. from Faber Field.
