Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release
Rockford, IL - The Traverse City Pit Spitters lose game one of the road series against the Rockford Rivets, 7-2. The Pit Spitters record drops to 31-20, and 9-7 in the second half.
After a fierce pitching duel between starting pitchers Nathan Dvorsky and Jeremy Adorno, the Rivets David Bishop led off the offense with a double to right field. Former Pit Spitter Brendan Summerhill followed up with a single, scoring Bishop to give the Rivets a 1-0 lead. Wyatt Morgan singled to right field scoring Summerhill to extend the Rivets lead to 2-0. After a wild pitch thrown by Dvorsky to move Morgan to second, Matthew Mebane doubled, scoring Morgan to make it 3-0. The Rivets offense continued into the bottom of the eighth, as after a quick first out, Nick Demarco, Summerhill, and Morgan drew three straight walks to load up the bases. Three additional walks from Holden Wilder putting on Mebane, Connor Allen, and Braden Duhon, bringing around the already loaded bases to extend their lead to 6-0. Allen then singled to right field scoring Mebane to make it 7-0. The Pit Spitters didn't go down without a fight, but ultimately a Camden Traficante single and Tyler Minnick walk didn't move the needle, final score 7-2.
