Madison Sets Franchise Record, Beats Wisconsin Rapids

Madison Mallards News Release
Wisconsin Rapids, WI - The Mallards, after combining for 11 runs during their three-game losing streak, set a franchise record in runs scored with 26 in their 26-4 win over Wisconsin Rapids at Witter Field.
Madison jumped right on Rafters' starter Jacob Rosencranz starting in the 1st. Entering today, Rosencranz had only allowed three earned runs through his first nine assignments of the year including four straight scoreless starts. Donnie Scott's offense plated four 1st inning runs with help from Jake Goolsby's two-run single to take an early lead. The offense didn't stop there against the righty. Madison scored one run in the 2nd and four more in the 3rd to bounce Rosencranz from the game.
The wheels fell off for good in the 4th when Mitchell Wittkamp entered from the Wisconsin Rapids bullpen. After Nick Williams flew out to begin the inning, the next 10 reached base in an eight run, seven hit inning that included Cal Fisher's fourth home run hit at Witter Field in the 2nd Half.
Madison was able to utilize cruise control from there. Ryan Sprock (8) and Davis Hamilton (4) added home runs to their totals to extend the lead. Frankie Wright turned in four solid innings in his first start of the summer.
Overall, the Mallards offensive eruption was two runs short of the single game record for most runs scored in Northwoods League history, which was set in 2020 when Rockford defeated Fond du Lac by scoring 28. The 26 runs ties 4th all-time which was set by Lakeshore against Madison in 2021. Madison was also three runs shy of breaking the record for largest margin of victory in a single game.
After snapping the three-game skid, Madison returns to Warner Park to begin a three-game homestand by wrapping up the home-and-home series with Wisconsin Rapids before two pivotal games against Green Bay. The All-Star Tommy Meyer takes the bump for Madison at 6:35 P.M. CST tomorrow against the Rafters.
