Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats fell 8-4 to the Lowell Spinners at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Tuesday, despite Johnny Sewald, Aaron Mizell, and Anthony Hermelyn each posting 2-for-4 games.

After Lowell scored on a solo home run in the top half of the first inning, the ValleyCats went on to build an early 4-1 lead. Kolbey Carpenter initially put Tri-City on the board by driving home Sewald and Mizell with an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the first inning, and Mizell drove home Sewald and Keach Ballard with a two-run triple to right field.

The triple by Mizell was his sixth with the ValleyCats, which is tied for the most among all New York-Penn League batters.

However, the Spinners fought back with five runs in the top of the fourth inning, one in the sixth, and one in the ninth, to top the 'Cats for the second day in a row, and take two out of three to conclude this three-game series.

With the loss, Tri-City's first place lead in the Stedler Division standings was trimmed to one game over Lowell.

The 'Cats will look to get back on the winning track on Wednesday night, when they play host to the Auburn Doubledays to kick off a three-game series. Getting the start for Auburn, the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Washington Nationals, will be RHP Jefry Rodriguez (2-5, 5.36), with RHP Chris Murphy (0-1, 1.42), on the mound for the ValleyCats.
