Black Bears Drop Two-Out-Of-Three on the Road to Williamsport

The West Virginia Black Bears lost all three games to the Williamsport Crosscutters in the series at Susquehanna Bank Park, where West Virginia won the first game 2-1 on Sunday, August 9. On Monday, August 10, the Black Bears were defeated by the Crosscutters 3-2 on a walk-off home run in the 11th inning before dropping the series finale 5-2 on Tuesday, August 11. The Black Bears now have an overall record of 25-26 while Williamsport improves to 32-19.

August 9 - Hill continues hot streak as Black Bears defeat Crosscutters 2-1

All-Star RF Logan Hill paved the way for the Black Bears, driving in the team's two runs, one of which came on a solo shot in the ninth inning. 2B Mitchell Tolman also had a productive day at the plate, finishing the night 2-for-3 with a walk. SP Brandon Waddell made his debut with West Virginia, pitching 3.0 innings, allowing one run with four strikeouts. RP Sean Keselica picked up the win (1-2) after tossing the final three innings while putting up scoreless frames.

August 10 - West Virginia falls to Williamsport on 11th inning walk-off HR

SS Erik Forgione finished the night going 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored while RF Logan Hill picked up his league-leading 40th RBI in Monday night's game. The teams were tied 2-2 after nine and Williamsport ended the game in the 11th on a walk-off home run by Jan Hernandez. RP Julio Eusebio was tagged with the loss (0-2) after pitching 2.1 innings, giving up two runs and striking out three.

August 11 - Black Bears drop series finale to Williamsport 5-2

The Black Bears came out firing to start the game, scoring two runs in the first inning. RF Ryan Nagle ripped a line drive single to center, scoring LF Ty Moore before CF Casey Hughston brought home DH Logan Hill on a liner to left. The runs would be all the team would score in the game though, while Williamsport had the only offense the rest of the way. SP Jonathan Brubaker was saddled with the loss after pitching 4.0 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out three.
