Spencer Assigned By Albany

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that defenseman Steve Spencer has been assigned to the team by the Albany River Rats, the AHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils. Spencer has spent the majority of the season with Albany after being called up on November 20. The second year professional will be in the lineup for the Stingrays on Tuesday night when they host the Greenville Grrrowl.

Spencer, a native of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, played in just 35 games as a rookie grabbing five assists and 119 penalty minutes. In 14 games with the Stingrays this season, Spencer had a goal and two assists along with 57 penalty minutes. He has a goal and an assist along with 67 penalty minutes in 40 games with Albany this season.

"Steve is going to be a huge addition to our blue line," commented Fitzsimmons. "He has had a great season with the River Rats and is excited to come back to Charleston to help us win a Championship."

Spencer and the Stingrays will host Greenville on Tuesday, travel to Greenville on Friday and host the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday night.
