Van Hoof Recalled and Reassigned; Chiefs Sign Scally

Johnstown, PA- Johnstown Chiefs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Toby O'Brien announced today, that defenseman Jeremy Van Hoof has been recalled to the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons and reassigned to the ECHL's Columbia Inferno. The Chiefs will receive future considerations from Columbia on June 3rd. In an unrelated moved, the Chiefs have signed goaltender Mark Scally for the remainder of the season.

Van Hoof, 23, appeared in 59 games for the Chiefs this season scoring 3 goals and 19 points. The Lindsay, Ontario native is under contract to the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning.

Scally, 27, played 39 games this season for the Asheville Aces of the Southern Professional Hockey League, where he was 14-23-0 with a 4.49 GAA and 0.898 save percentage. The 5'11, 170 LBS native of Moon Township, PA appeared in 20 games for the Chiefs during the 2002-03 season where he went 5-10-3, with a 3.71 GAA and 0.874 save percentage. He has also seen time in the ECHL with the Wheeling Nailers and last season with the Texas Wildcatters.

Scally will be available when the Chiefs face the Peoria Rivermen Tuesday night at Carver Arena.

The Chiefs return home on Saturday, April 2nd when they host the Dayton Bombers at 7:00 p.m.
