Hay records goal, assist in 2-1 Ice Pilots win

Dwayne Hay's one goal, one assist performance paced the Pensacola Ice Pilots past the Augusta Lynx in a 2-1 decision Saturday night in front of 3,186 fans at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.

Pensacola (43-14-5) would open the scoring at 4:13 of the first period when Aaron Gionet swept in from the point to put a Dwayne Hay feed past Jason Saal to make it 1-0 after 20 minutes of play.

Augusta (24-31-7) tied the game in the second period when John Cronin's keep at the point resulted in a bouncing shot towards the Ice Pilots net that was deflected past Todd Ford at 4:57. Dan Sullivan and Doug Wright drew the assists on the goal, evening the game and setting the stage for a third period settlement.

Pensacola would cap the scoring with the third period's only marker, a Dwayne Hay goal that stood for the game winner at 3:29 from Aaron Phillips and Ryan O'Keefe.

Todd Ford made 43 saves for the win while Jason Saal stopped 25 shots for the loss. Both teams went scoreless on the power play, Augusta 0-for-4 and Pensacola 0-for-5.

The Lynx are back in action on Thursday night against the Columbia Inferno at 7:05 pm. Pre-game show kicks off one half-hour before game time on NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
