
Sparks open 2006 season in Seattle May 21st

EL SEGUNDO, CA- The Los Angeles Sparks will tip off the 10th anniversary season on Sunday May 21st in Seattle when they take on the Storm, it was announced today. The Sparks will have their home opener on Wednesday June 7th at 6pm when they take on the Detroit Shock at STAPLES Center.
Also highlighted this season is the introduction the Chicago Sky, the WNBA's 14th franchise. They will kick off their season in Charlotte against the Sting on May 20th. The Sparks will travel to Chicago for the first of two nationally televised games on ESPN2 on May 30th at 6pm (Pacific Time). The Sky will travel to Los Angeles with former Sparks forward, Laura Macchi on June 9th. The 2005 WNBA Champions, Sacramento Monarchs will come to Los Angeles on June 18th.
Entering the 10th anniversary season, the WNBA will feature games with consistent presence on ESPN2 and an expanded national television playoff package. In addition to the May 30th game against Chicago, the Sparks will be broadcast on ESPN2 on July 18th when they take on the New York Liberty at STAPLES Center. ABC will broadcast the June 3rd match-up with the Liberty in New York at Madison Square Garden.
