
2006 Fever Schedule Announced

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Fever has announced its 2006 Women's National Basketball Association schedule, beginning with a season opener Saturday, May 20, against the Detroit Shock at Conseco Fieldhouse. Indiana will play 34 regular season games including a pair of national television dates on ESPN2, and ending with an Aug. 13 home date against the expansion Chicago Sky.
A part of the WNBA's new Tuesday night television package on ESPN2, Indiana will appear twice - May 30 vs. New York from Conseco Fieldhouse, and Aug. 1 at Detroit.
Overall, the Fever's regular season includes 20 games against the East and 14 games against the West. Among its Eastern opponents, the Fever will battle the Shock and Sky four times apiece, while playing each of Charlotte, Connecticut, New York and Washington just three times.
Preseason games and a local television schedule are yet to be announced.
Additional schedule highlights for the upcoming season include:
Ÿ Indiana's home opener is Saturday, May 20, against Swin Cash, Ruth Riley, Bill Laimbeer and the Detroit Shock.
Ÿ In addition to its two home dates, the Fever battles its new I-65 rival, the Chicago Sky, during the first week of the season. Indiana ventures to Chicago on May 26, and again July 30.
Ÿ The Fever entertains defending Eastern Conference champ Connecticut on Saturday, July 1. The two teams do not meet again until consecutive games, August 9 in Indiana and August 11 at Connecticut.
Ÿ The Fever hosts each Western Conference team once, including a visit by defending WNBA champion Sacramento on Tuesday, July 25.
Ÿ Indiana's longest homestand is five games in late July, including four straight against the West: July 16 vs. Houston; July 18 vs. Phoenix; July 22 vs. Los Angeles; July 25 vs. Sacramento. The homestand concludes July 29 vs. Washington.
Ÿ The Fever's annual Camp Day takes place with a 1:00 p.m. tipoff on Tuesday, July 18, when Indiana hosts All-Star Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury.
