Sparks announce 2007 preseason schedule

EL SEGUNDO, CA- The Los Angeles Sparks 2007 preseason schedule was announced today.

The Sparks will play three preseason games on the road beginning in Phoenix and continuing to Indiana and Baton Rouge. In the first of three games, the team will take on Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury at the US Airways Center on May 8. Traveling to the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indiana for a May 10 contest against the Fever, the Sparks will face All-Star forward Tamika Catchings.

The team will conclude the three-game trip for a special appearance against the Minnesota Lynx in Baton Rouge, LA. Playing at the Maravich Assembly Center on the Louisiana State campus, this game will reunite LSU alumni, 2005 WNBA Rookie of the Year Temeka Johnson (Los Angeles), Doneeka Hodges-Lewis (Los Angeles) and 2006 WNBA Rookie of the Year Seimone Augustus (Minnesota). Players will participate in local community events and a portion of the proceeds from the game will go to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

Entering their 11th season, the Sparks are operating under new ownership led by investors Katherine Goodman and Carla Christofferson, the Sparks will open the 2007 season in Chicago when they play the Sky on May 22. The Sparks will take on the Minnesota Lynx for their home opener on June 8 at STAPLES Center. For season ticket information, call (877) 44-SPARKS.
