
WNBA announces 2007 preseason schedule

NEW YORK, February 27, 2007 - The WNBA announced its 2007 preseason schedule today, including seven games in non-WNBA markets. Preseason action tips off on Wednesday, May 2 as the Chicago Sky host the Phoenix Mercury at UIC Pavilion and concludes with two games on Tuesday, May 15.
Special preseason action in non-WNBA venues highlights the slate of games on May 4 when Chicago will host the Washington Mystics at the Al McGuire Center in Milwaukee and the defending champion Detroit Shock host the Houston Comets at the United Spirit Center in Lubbock, TX. Another pair of games at non-traditional sites will follow on May 5, as the New York Liberty plays the Connecticut Sun at the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT and former Kansas State players Nicole Ohlde and Kendra Wecker will square off as the Minnesota Lynx face the San Antonio Silver Stars at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, KS. Additionally, former Ohio State star Katie Smith will lead Detroit against Washington on May 6 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH while San Antonio will play Detroit on May 13 at Qwest Center in Omaha, NE.
Highlighting the preseason schedule on May 13 will be a game at the Pete Maravich Center in Baton Rouge, LA in which three former Louisiana State University stars will reunite and compete against one another. 2006 Rookie of the Year Seimone Augustus and Minnesota will face 2005 Rookie of the Year Temeka Johnson, Doneeka Hodges and the Los Angeles Sparks. Also on May 13, Washington will host Anda Ramat Hasharon from Israel at the Verizon Center.
