Eugene, OR - Eugene Emeralds second baseman Cory Spangengerg will be promoted to Fort Wayne (Low-A) tomorrow; his last game with the Emeralds and at PK Park is tonight at 7:05 against the Yakima Bears.
Going into tonight's game, Spangenberg was batting .386 and led the league in four categories: doubles (10), on-base percentage (.556), runs scored (19) and base on balls (31). He's ranked No. 2 in overall NWL batting. He has recorded 32 hits in 83 at-bats, leading the Ems in doubles (10), RBI (19) and stolen bases (10).
He was named Northwest League Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks in June.
Spangenberg was selected by the San Diego Padres in the first round of the 2011 first-year player draft (10th pick overall) out of Indian River State. He resides in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania.
