Indians Drop Series Finale to Canadians 9-6

Spokane, WA -The Vancouver Canadians defeated the Spokane Indians 9-6 in the finale of a five game series at Avista Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Canadians pitcher Bryan Longpre (2-1) picked up the win in a game that was delayed nearly 20 minutes by an on-field altercation between the two team's players.

Immediately after the game, the Indians organization issued the following statement:

"The Spokane Indians organization apologizes to their fans for the altercation between the Spokane and Vancouver players that occurred during the third inning of today's game. The Indians organization does not in any way condone the actions of the players during this incident. The Northwest League is currently in the process of reviewing the game, and numerous suspensions are likely to be handed out. The Spokane Indians and Texas Rangers, the Indians major league affiliate, are both fully cooperating with Northwest League officials."

Jon Daniels, General Manager of the Texas Rangers, said "The Rangers do not condone the activity exhibited in today's game. We are looking into it, will address our players, and will consider discipline once we have all the facts. We appreciate the support and patience from our fans in Spokane."

"The Spokane Indians are committed to providing family entertainment and this incid ent is completely unacceptable," said Indians Senior Vice President Otto Klein. ‚¬ËœWe apologize to our fans, sponsors, and everyone who have come to expect a positive family experience at Avista Stadium."
