July 11, 2011 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Spokane Indians News Release
Spokane, WA -A night after being held to just one run by Vancouver, the Indians got their revenge on the Canadians pitching staff, scoring 11 times in the first inning on their way to a 12-8 win.
In a wild opening inning that saw an ejection and both benches clear, Spokane opened up an 11-0 lead as they batted around the line-up, scoring runs on RBI's from Zach Cone, Trever Adams, Jorge Alfaro, Edwin Garcia, and Rougned Odor. Cone and Adams each finished with three RBI's, and Drew Robinson, Odor, and Garcia all had multiple hits in the game.
In his second at-bat of the first inning, Indians rightfielder Guillermo Pimentel was ejected after arguing a third strike call, and then getting into a verbal altercation with Canadians catcher Pierce Rankin. Both benches and bullpens met at home plate, but no punches were thrown, and no further players were ejected.
Lost amidst the Indians offensive attack and the near-brawl in the first was the outstanding pitching of left-hander Will Lamb. The second round pick from Clemson made his first start of the year, cruising through three innings of work while allowing just one run on one hit and striking out four. Andres Perez-Lobo (1-0) picked up his first win of the year with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.
