
Sounds Snap RedHawks Win Streak, 7-6 in 10 Innings

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Nashville Sounds (2-5) scored the tying run in the ninth on a Hainley Statia sacrifice fly before a 10th inning home run by Martin Maldonado sent Nashville to a 7-6 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (5-2) before 2,912 Wednesday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Nashville reliever Mike McClendon (1-0) blew a save by giving up the tying run in the eighth inning, but took a winning decision after Nashville rallied. Juan Abreu (0-1) allowed the tying run in the ninth inning for a blown save and the game-winning home run in the tenth inning for the losing decision.
Oklahoma City opened the scoring in the first inning against Mike Fiers. J.B. Shuck led off with a triple and scored on a Jed Lowrie sacrifice fly for a 1-0 score. Later in the inning, Fernando Martinez extended a hitting streak to seven games with an infield single and scored on a Scott Moore double for a 2-0 score.
In the third inning Martinez reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a Brett Wallace double for a 3-0 advantage.
The Sounds broke through against Aneury Rodriguez in the fifth inning. Logan Schafer walked, stole second and scored on a Taylor Green single for a 3-1 score. Hainey Statia later singled in Sean Halton and Green for a 3-3 deadlock.
In the bottom of the inning, the RedHawks regained the lead when Scott Moore singled in Jed Lowrie for a 4-3 lead.
Nashville took the lead in the seventh inning with a pair of runs against Enerio del Rosario. Schafer led off with a double and scored on a Halton double for a 4-4 score. Statia later doubled in Halton for a 5-4 Sounds lead.
Oklahoma City took the lead in the eighth inning against McClendon. Scott Moore doubled, moved to third on a Jimmy Paredes single and scored on an errant pickoff throw to first base for a 5-5 game. Carlos Corporan later drove in Paredes on a sacrifice fly for a 6-5 RedHawks lead.
In the ninth inning Nashville's Erick Almonte led off with a single, moved to third on a single and scored on a Statia sacrifice fly for a 6-6 score and sent the game to extra innings.
Nashville catcher Martin Maldonado put Nashville ahead for good in the 10th inning with a one-out, solo home run for a 7-6 Sounds lead.
