DES MOINES, IOWA April 11, 2012 - The Iowa Cubs, led by a stellar outing by RHP Casey Coleman, defeated the Albuquerque Isotopes 5-1 on throw back night at Principal Park. Starter Coleman shined in his second start, throwing 5.0+ innings of one run ball for Iowa (4-3). He allowed three hits, three walks, and three strikeouts keeping Albuquerque (2-5) hitless through three for his first win. 2B Alex Castellanos (3-for-4) was responsible for two of the three hits off of Coleman with a double and a single.

The I-Cubs' righty helped his own cause, going 2-for-3 with two singles, driving in C Welington Castillo in the second inning for his first RBI of the season. The Florida native gave up his first hit, a double down the left field line, to Castellanos in the fourth after walking Angle to lead off the inning. Angle later scored the 'Topes first and only run on an RBI-groundout by 3B Jeff Baisley.

Adorned in Iowa Oaks uniforms, the offense exploded for five runs on ten hits. Castillo, 3-for-3 with a walk and an RBI, continued his hot hitting with his first home run of the season on a solo shot to left field in the third. 3B Josh Vitters (2-for-3) drove in his third and fourth RBIs on the year with a sacrifice fly in the third and a single to left in the seventh.

SS Adrian Cardenas (1-for-3) now leads league in extra base hits (two triples, four doubles, one home run) and is tied for the lead in triples with his second triple of the season in the third inning. Iowa's 5-6-7 hitters combined for six of the ten hits on the night.

RHs Ryan Rowland-Smith and Blake Parker completed the game for Coleman, combining for four scoreless innings, with Parker throwing a perfect ninth. Isotopes' starter Francisco Felix took the loss, falling to 0-1 on the season. LHP Chris Rusin will toe the rubber for the I-Cubs tomorrow with a noon start against RHP Steven Fife in the fourth and final game of the series.
