Reno Aces News Release

RENO, Nev.-Minor League Baseball President Pat O'Conner and the Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc., will present Reno Aces outfielder Cole Gillespie with his 2011 Rawlings Gold Glove Award in a pregame ceremony at Aces Ballpark this Thursday.

First pitch Thursday night is set for 6:35 p.m. Gates open at 5:35 p.m., and the ceremony will begin at approximately 6:20 p.m.

Gillespie will meet with the media in the Aces dugout at approximately 4:15 p.m. Any media wishing to interview O'Conner must make prior arrangements with the Reno Aces Communications Department.

Gillespie, who spent the entire 2011 season with the Aces before being recalled to the Arizona Diamondbacks, becomes the first member of the Aces to have earned a Gold Glove Award. He was the lone D-backs farmhand to collect a Minor League Gold Glove last season, and was 1-of-2 Pacific Coast League players honored.

Reno's everyday right fielder, Gillespie finished 2011 with a .993 fielding percentage. He led all Aces outfielders with 10 assists and 275 putouts. His 10 outfield assists were second-most in franchise history, and he was one of just eight PCL outfielders with double-digit assists last season. Gillespie has registered 41-career Minor League assists.

The Oregon State product helped lead Reno to a team .982 fielding percentage-second-best in the PCL and tops in club history.

Also last season, former Aces outfielder Gerardo Parra earned a Major League Rawlings Gold Glove Award with the Diamondbacks.

Gillespie and the Aces continue a four-game set with the Salt Lake Bees tonight and finish up the series on Thursday night. Tonight's game will be the first Aces WINSday of the season, and the finale will be the first Coors Light Thirsty Thursday(tm) presented by Lotus Radio and Reno News & Review of the season. Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
