Round Rock Express News Release

PAPILLION, Neb. - Irving Falu's two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth capped a three-run final frame as the Omaha Storm Chasers rallied past the Round Rock Express 6-5 in Wednesday night's Pacific Coast League action at Werner Park. The Express (2-5) have lost four straight, while the Storm Chasers (6-1) have won five straight.

Jarrod Dyson's reached on a one-out infield single, stole second, moved to third on an errant throw down. After Derrick Robinson walked, Tony Abreu popped out to Express third baseman Tommy Mendonca. Robinson stole second, Clint Robinson was hit by a pitch, and Kevin Kouzmanoff followed with a game-tying, two-run single. Falu then dropped the game-winning hit into right-center, scoring Clint Robinson.

It marked the second consecutive last-at-bat loss for the Express, who lost a 16-inning affair Tuesday afternoon at Omaha. Round Rock also suffered a last-at-bat loss Sunday at Iowa in the first of their four straight losses. The four-game skid matches the longest streak of last season.

Brandon Sisk (1-0) pitched a scoreless top of the ninth with a walk and a strikeout to pick up the win. Omaha starter Vin Mazzaro surrendered four runs on seven hits over six innings; he walked two and struck out four. Roman Colon gave up a run in two innings, bridging the gap from Mazzaro to Sisk.

Express starter Martin Perez allowed three runs on six hits and two walks over five and two-third innings with five strikeouts and was in line for the win before the ninth-inning rally. Instead, Tanner Scheppers took the loss; he retired the side in the eighth but allowed all three runs in the ninth. Aaron Heilman scattered three hits and a walk over an inning and a third of scoreless relief after spelling Perez.

Michael Bianucci doubled twice for the Express and has hit safely in all seven games this season. Leonys Martin was 0-for-4 with a walk, snapping a five-game hitting streak. Luis Martinez was 4-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Kouzmanoff finished 3-for-5 with three RBI. Derrick Robison and Anthony Seratelli both had two-hit games for the Chasers.

Omaha plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the first when Tony Abreu delivered an RBI single and scored on a Kouzmanoff double. The Express responded with a three-run third. Julio Borbon had an RBI single, while Yangervis Solarte and Brad Nelson added sacrifice flies. The teams traded runs in the sixth on RBI doubles from Bianucci for Round Rock and Jamie Romak for Omaha.

Round Rock and Omaha conclude their four-game series Thursday; first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CDT at Werner Park. Right-hander Neil Ramirez (0-0, 2.25 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Express, while right-hander Nate Adcock (1-0, 0.00 ERA) is slated to go for the Storm Chasers.
