Sounds Snap RedHawks' Streak

Oklahoma City - A four-run third inning provided an early push for the Nashville Sounds Monday in a 6-3 win against the Oklahoma City RedHawks in front of 3,374 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The loss by the RedHawks was their first at home since July 14 -- before the PCL All-Star Break -- and ended Oklahoma City's club record 17-game home winning streak.

Oklahoma City (78-59) opened a four-game series with Nashville (53-84) and began its final homestand of the regular season.

Oklahoma City now leads second-place Albuquerque by six games in the PCL American Southern Division standings and third-place Round Rock by seven games with seven games left to play in the regular season.

An Oklahoma City win Tuesday, or an Albuquerque loss Tuesday, will clinch the RedHawks' first division title since 2010.

Nashville outhit the RedHawks, 15-10, Monday and Oklahoma City tied its season high for a nine-inning game with a combined 13 strikeouts at the plate in the game that lasted 3 hours, 48 minutes.

Nashville's Jose Prince hit a solo home run to lead off the top of the third inning. Back-to-back RBI singles from Blake Lalli and Anderson De La Rosa, followed by a RBI groundout by Stephen Parker pushed the Sounds ahead, 4-0, in the inning.

Singleton knocked a RBI single to center field to score Jimmy Paredes to cut the Sounds' lead to three runs with one out in the fourth inning. Marc Krauss walked to load the bases with one out, but Carlos Perez flew out and Crowe struck out to end the inning.

RBI singles by Parker and Prince pushed the Sounds to a 6-1 lead in the top of the ninth.

Jose Martinez and George Springer singled and Brandon Laird was hit by a pitch to load the bases with none out in the bottom of the ninth for the RedHawks. Paredes struck out and Japhet Amador popped out for the first two outs before Jon Singleton hit a two-run single to cut the Sounds' lead to 6-3. Krauss flew out to center field to end the game.

De La Rosa went 4-for-5 for Nashville in the win. Singleton collected three RBI for Oklahoma City.

RedHawks starting pitcher Ross Seaton (3-7) took the loss, allowing nine hits and four runs in 4.1 innings. He struck out four and walked two. The RedHawks pitching staff combined to strike out 12 Sounds hitters.

Starter Jimmy Nelson (4-6) got the win for Nashville. He allowed one run and five hits, walked three and struck out seven. Travis Webb recorded his first save of the season with the Sounds.

The RedHawks continue their four-game series against Nashville at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
