NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nashville Sounds right-hander Seth McClung has been named the Pacific Coast League's Pitcher-of-the-Week for the August 6-12 period.

In two starts during the week, McClung finished with a 1-0 record, 0.00 ERA (0er/10.0ip), and 11 strikeouts while allowing only six hits.

He earned a victory in his first start of the season last Monday at Tacoma by holding the Rainiers to three hits over five scoreless innings in Nashville's 6-0 win.

In his second start during the week on Sunday evening at Greer Stadium against Albuquerque, McClung again turned in five scoreless frames, allowing only three hits, and struck out a season-high seven batters. He left in line for another victory before a blown save left him with a no-decision in the Sounds' eventual 3-2 triumph.

McClung's week continued his dominance of PCL hitters. The fireballer has allowed nine hits while striking out 17 batters over 14 scoreless innings in his four appearances for Nashville since joining the club on July 28. He was acquired by the Milwaukee Brewers from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization in a July 27 trade for former Sounds reliever Grant Balfour.

The 6-foot-6 right-hander has logged an impressive 10.92 strikeouts per nine inning ratio since joining the Sounds and has held PCL batters to a .188 average (9-for-48).

Prior to his arrival in Music City, McClung went 1-5 with five saves and a 1.99 ERA (13er/58.2ip) in 40 relief outings with Durham (AAA-Devil Rays) to open the season.

His award is the third accumulated by a Sounds player during the 2007 season, all of which have been pitchers. Top prospect Yovani Gallardo took home the PCL Pitcher-of-the-Week award for the May 14-20 period. Left-hander Manny Parra snagged the June 25-July 1 honor after hurling the third nine-inning perfect game in PCL history. Both pitchers have since joined the Milwaukee Brewers.

McClung is scheduled to take the hill for his next start on Friday evening at Greer Stadium in the Sounds' 7 p.m. homestand finale against the New Orleans Zephyrs (AAA-Mets).
