Memphis, Tenn. - Omaha breezed by Memphis 4-2 Monday night at AutoZone Park to clinch the four-game series.
Angel Berroa started the scoring in the top of the first with a solo home run on his way to a perfect 4-for-4 night. The Royals shortstop scored twice and added three singles to his sixth dinger of the year. Justin Huber knocked in two runs and hit a solo home run in the O-Royals two-run fifth. Huber's solo shot was followed by Derek Wathan's RBI-single. Nick Stavinoha and Tagg Bozied provided the Memphis offense with solo home runs. Mike McCoy chipped in a pair of hits in a losing effort.
Omaha starter Matt Wright was strong through 7.2 innings allowing one run on five hits to earn his ninth win of the year. Nate Hoelscher recorded the last four outs to pick up his second save. Matt Ginter took the loss for the Redbirds after giving up three runs on five hits in four-plus innings.
The âBirds will begin a 13-game road trip Tuesday night at Oklahoma with Mike Parisi on the hill. The RedHawks will send Edinson Volquez to the mound with game time scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
