New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
The New Orleans Zephyrs fell to the visiting Round Rock Express on Monday by a score of 6-4 in 11 innings.
Express pinch hitter Beau Torbert drove in the go ahead runs with a single in the 11th inning to give the Express the victory.
Reliever Travis Driskill (4-3) gets the win for Round Rock as he gave up only one hit and no runs in two innings. Jose Rodriguez replaced Driskill and recorded his third save of the year, allowing no hits and no runs in the final inning.
Left fielder Chip Ambres led the Zephyrs offensively, going 2-5 with two RBI off of a third inning two-run homer. Catcher Robinson Cancel got his third home run of the year in the fourth inning, a solo shot that would tie the game at four and eventually send it to extra innings.
Reliever Ivan Maldonado (1-1) got the loss after giving up the winning runs and three hits in two innings.
The Zephyrs and Express finish their series with a 2-2 split. With both Oklahoma and Albuquerque losing Monday, the Zephyrs maintain their 3.5 game lead in the division despite the loss. New Orleans goes on the road for a four-game series at Nashville before returning home on Saturday for a nine-game homestand against the Oklahoma RedHawks and Iowa Cubs.
