The Iowa Cubs finished off a four-game sweep of the Oklahoma RedHawks with a 10-2 win Monday night at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The Cubs handed the RedHawks their sixth straight loss at The Brick.
Iowa (69-54) took an early 1-0 lead after the first inning. The lead grew to seven in the second inning as the Cubs scored six runs on four hits. Geovany Soto led the way for the Cubs, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and five RBIs. Soto finished the series with 14 RBIs.
Oklahoma (59-61) scored single runs in the third and sixth inning. Kevin West led the way for the Hawks at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a homer. The RedHawks were outscored 37-11 in the series.
Les Walrond (9-4) earned the win, allowing one run on five hits in five innings. Robinson Tejeda (1-3) took the loss by allowing seven runs (six earned) on four hits in two innings.
The Cubs won the season series 9-6.
The RedHawks host the Memphis Redbirds Tuesday at 7:05 pm CDT at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark, and the Cubs head to Omaha for a 7:05 pm CDT game.
