The Bridgeport Sound Tigers skated into the American Hockey League's All-Star break as one of the league's hottest teams, having earned points in eight of their last 10 games. The Sound Tigers are 7-2-0-1 in their last 10 contests, all since the turn of the calendar to 2007. The Sound Tigers play three consecutive games on the road this weekend and return to the Arena at Harbor Yard for the first of five straight home tilts on Wednesday, Feb. 7 against the Worcester Sharks at 7:30 p.m.

On the road: The Sound Tigers, who boast a winning record on the road, will try to continue their winning ways at Worcester on Friday, Portland on Saturday and Providence on Sunday.

Upcoming home games and promotions

Wednesday, Feb. 7 vs. the Worcester Sharks, 7:30 p.m. Fans should bring their resumes, as prospective employers from the professional sports world will be on hand for the Sports and Entertainment Career Fair from 5:30-7:30 p.m. A ticket for the career fair and the game is just $20 for fans who reserve their tickets by Monday, Feb. 5. Call Rob Kirsch at 334-4625 to reserve your ticket. Among those scheduled to have representatives at the Arena: Bridgeport Sound Tigers, New York Islanders, New York Dragons, American Hockey League, WFAN Sports Radio, Madison Square Garden, New Jersey Nets and Octagon. (Career fair participants are subject to change.)

Friday, Feb. 9 vs. the Hershey Bears, 7:30 p.m. The Sound Tigers shoot for their fifth win in six games against the defending Calder Cup champs. The season-series has been an exciting one with the Sound Tigers winning a pair of shootouts and an overtime game at Hershey.

Saturday, Feb. 10 vs. the Lowell Devils, 7 p.m. There will be southern hospitality at the Arena for Country Night, featuring country music and activities throughout the game.

Sunday, Feb. 11 vs. the Binghamton Senators, 1 p.m. The Youth Hockey Shootout will put some of the state's best young goal-scorers and goaltenders in the spotlight during tourney semifinals and championship rounds on Sound Tiger ice.

Mark your calendars

The Sound Tigers play nine home games in February, including school vacation-week games against the Albany River Rats on Tuesday, Feb. 20 and the Philadelphia Phantoms on Wednesday, Feb. 21, both at 7:30 p.m.

Sound Tiger players and mascot Storm are out and about in the community. Among the upcoming appearances (player appearances and event dates subject to change): Storm is slated to visit students at St. Lawrence School in West Haven on Tuesday, Jan. 30. Players Drew Fata and Frans Nielsen are scheduled to make an appearance at the Cub Scout Pack 11 meeting in Seymour at Trinity Episcopal Church on Tuesday, Jan. 30. On Wednesday, Jan. 31, Mark Wotton and Robert Nilsson will head to the classroom and read to students at St. Anne School in Bridgeport. On Thursday, Feb. 1, Brandon Cullen and Tomas Malec will appear to greet fans at Off the Wall in Stratford from 6-7 p.m. On Friday, Feb. 2, Peter Ferraro and Kevin Mitchell are scheduled to visit Fairfield Country Day School. On Tuesday, Feb. 6, Drew Fata and Steve Regier will read to students at Unquowa School in Fairfield. On Feb. 6, Rick Berry and Jamie Fraser will hit the ice with the Greater Bridgeport Junior Youth Hockey Assoc! iation's Gulls to offer pointers during their practice at the Rinks at Shelton.

The Sound Tigers have been involved in 18 one-goal games, 14 overtime contests and nine shootouts.

Weekly recap

The Sound Tigers won two of three games this past week, defeating the Binghamton Senators 4-1 at home last Wednesday, falling 4-2 in Hartford on Friday, and defeating the visiting Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 4-1 on Saturday. Eric Boguniecki recorded two goals and three assists and Jeff Tambellini had two goals and two assists in the three games. Goaltender Wade Dubielewicz stopped 30 shots in the win over Binghamton, 37 in the loss to Hartford and 38 in the win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

In the standings: The Sound Tigers are 20-18-1-4, and currently hold the fourth and final playoff spot in the East Division. The Sound Tigers and fifth-place Albany River Rats both have 45 points, but the Sound Tigers have two games in hand and thus have a better winning percentage.

All-Star between the pipes: Dubielewicz is the Sound Tigers' representative in the Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic. Dubielewicz and the Canadian All-Stars will take on the PlanetUSA All-Stars in Toronto, tonight, Monday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. Dubielewicz ranks seventh among AHL goalies with a 2.37 goals against average. He's 14-4-4 with a .930 save percentage. Dubielewicz has been involved in eight of the Sound Tigers' nine shootouts.

Player of the week selection: Dubielewicz stopped 105 of 111 shots in three games this week and is the Sound Tigers' nominee for the CCM/Vector AHL Player of the Week award.

Tambellini stays hot: Tambellini's points streak has stretched to eight games, fifth best in the league. He has five goals and six assists during the eight games.

Strong PK: Bridgeport's penalty kill remains atop the league this week at 89.4 percent.
