1.24.07 - Worcester 3 - Lowell 2
Back on home ice and back in 4th place in the Atlantic Division after Sunday's victory at Lowell, the Sharks defeated the Houston Aeros by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday night in the teams' first meeting of the season. Dimitri Patzold finished with 22 saves, while Brad Staubitz, Mike Iggulden and Tomas Plihal scored the goals.
1.26.07 - Worcester 2 - Binghamton 1
The Sharks won their fifth straight home game at the DCU Center on Friday night by a score of 2-1. Sharks defensemen Patrick Traverse and Scott Ferguson provided all the offense for Team Teal in the first period to up their record to 22-16-1-6. Dimitri Patzold won his fourth consecutive win of the season with 28 saves.
1.27.07 - Providence 5 - Worcester 2
In front of a capacity crowd of 7,230 at the DCU Center, the Worcester Sharks fell to division rival Providence by a margin of 5-2 on Friday night. A 5-0 advantage would hold into the third period, until Worcester finally solved Providence goaltending. Patrick Traverse found Mike Iggulden out in front of the net, and the Sharks' second-leading goal scorer tallied his 16th of the year to narrow the deficit to 5-1. Iggulden would strike again on an assist from Brady Leisenring with just over a minute remaining in regulation to produce the final score of 5-2 in favor of the Bruins.
Dimitri the Dominator...
Dimitri Patzold had another fantastic week after going 2-0 with wins against the Houston Aeros and Binghamton Senators. Patzold is 4-0 in his last four starts and has a 106 total saves. In those four games, the netminder averaged less than two goals per game with just seven goals getting past him. In 15 games played, Patzold is 8-3-3 with a 3.30 goals-against average.
Staubitz Scores...
In his second professional hockey season, Brad Staubitz registered his first career goal on January 24 against the Houston Aeros. Mainly a defenseman, Staubitz has been playing forward and scored a scrappy rebound goal on his second attempt from in front of the Houston goal on Wednesday night. The Bright's Grove, Ontario native has three points (1+2=3) in his last 11 games for the Sharks.
Star Selection...
Worcester Sharks forward Mathieu Darche was named to the 2006-07 Canadian All-Star roster. The AHL All-Star Game will take place in Toronto, Ontario on January 29th. The Game will be aired live on NESN at 7 p.m. and broadcast on the "Voice of the Sharks" Newstalk 580 WTAG.
Sellout Crowd...
On Saturday night, the Worcester Sharks had their second home game in Franchise History against the Providence Bruins sell out at a maximum capacity of 7,230 at the DCU Center. The first sellout in Sharks history was Opening Night on October 14th against the Portland Pirates.

The Worcester Sharks are teaming up with the American Red Cross Blood Donor Center, located at 381 Plantation Street in Worcester. All presenting blood donors on February 6th, 8th, and 10th will receive a free pair of tickets to an upcoming Sharks game.
