Darche represent Sharks well in 2007 AHL All-Star Classic

TORONTO - The Worcester Sharks had one on-ice representative at the 2007 American Hockey League All-Star Classic and he certainly did not disappoint. Sharks leading scorer Mathieu Darche collected two assists and a plus one rating in the prestigious All-Star game as he and his Canadian comrades dropped a tough 7-6 decision to PlanetUSA with just 3.9 seconds left in the third period.
Darche hooked up with Martin St. Pierre at the 16:04 mark of the first period for his first helper. The Montreal native picked up a loose puck along the right half boards and fed Martin St. Pierre in front to cut PlanetUSA's lead in half to 2-1.
Then, at 6:32 of the second period, Darche fought for the puck behind PlanetUSA's goal and slid it out front to Milwaukee blueliner Sheldon Brookbank to take a 3-2 lead for the Canadian All-Stars.
This season, Darche leads all Sharks players and currently ranks tenth in the league-scoring race with 50 points (25+25=50) in 46 games. The gritty left-winger has 13 power play tallies and owns a plus-eight rating to prove his strong two-way play.
In the Sharks first season in Worcester, Darche currently holds four important records in the team's young history. He has scored the Sharks first ever goal on October 6, the first ever home goal on October 14, the first ever hat trick on December 22 and the most points in a game on December 22 with five (3+2=5).
The Sharks will get back to the grindstone on Friday night when the Bridgeport Sound Tigers come to the DCU Center for a 7:00 p.m. start time.
