
Sound Tigers Sign Two to ATOs

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (March 21, 2014) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that forwards Ryan Walters and Brock Montpetit have agreed to amateur tryout contracts (ATOs). The two were teammates at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (NCHC) for the last four years and both have just finished their senior seasons.
Walters, 22, skated in 152 games for the Mavericks from 2010 to 2014. He appeared in 37 games this season and scored 34 points (seven goals, 27 assists). The Rosemount, Minn., native was the team's leading scorer in 2012-13 with 52 points (22 goals, 30 assists). He finished his collegiate career with 134 points (50 goals, 84 assists). Prior to attending Nebraska-Omaha, he played three seasons of junior hockey in the USHL with the Des Moines Buccaneers, and scored 61 points (21 goals, 40 assists) in his final season.
Montpetit, 23, played in 136 games for the Mavericks over the past four seasons. He had his best collegiate offensive season this season, picking up 33 points (14 goals, 19 assists) in 37 games. Overall, the Somerset, Wis., native collected 85 points in his four years with the Mavericks. Montpetit also played his junior hockey in the USHL, with three seasons as a member of the Waterloo Black Hawks. In his final season, Montpetit scored 69 points (28 goals, 41 assists) in 55 games.
