Sound Tigers Sign Riopel to PTO

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Dec. 26, 2011) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today they have signed goaltender Nic Riopel to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Riopel, 22, earns his first AHL stint of the 2011-12 season after appearing in 15 games with the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL this season, posting an 11-3-1 record with a 2.91 GAA and a .910 sv%. The Beloeil, PQ native has appeared in 21 career AHL games, all with the Adirondack Phantoms, and was originally a fifth round (142nd overall) draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Riopel was also a camp invite at this year's Islanders Rookie Camp in July.
