Bulldogs Defeat Marlies 6-3

Toronto, Ontario - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Toronto Marlies 6-3 at the Air Canada Centre on Monday afternoon. Olivier Fortier scored two goals while Joonas Nattinen and Gabriel Dumont each recorded two points.

The Marlies opened the scoring at 1:30 of the first period on a goal by Jerry D'Amigo. Luca Caputi and D'Amigo were on a two-on-one as Caputi slid a pass from the right circle to D'Amigo in the slot who wired a shot over the blocker of Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Nathan Lawson. Toronto increased the lead at 3:48 of the first stanza on a power play goal by Joe Colborne. Greg Scott took a shot from the point which was stopped by Lawson. The rebound came out to Colborne in the crease and he slid the puck past Lawson. The Marlies added a third tally at 5:19 of the opening frame on a goal by Ryan Hamilton. Jesse Blacker received the puck at the left circle and skated behind the goal line before coming out in front and putting a low shot on Lawson. The rebound was laying in the crease for Hamilton who shoveled the puck behind Lawson.

The Bulldogs scored their first goal at 2:35 of the middle stanza on a goal by Fortier. After receiving a pass from Nattinen, Fortier streaked down the right wing and snapped a shot from the right circle over the shoulder of Toronto Marlies starting goaltender Ben Scrivens. The Hamilton Bulldogs added another marker at 5:19 of the second period on a goal by Ian Schultz. Mitch Wahl picked up the puck off a turnover at the left circle and feathered a pass to Schultz in the slot who wristed a shot over the shoulder of Scrivens. The 'Dogs tied the score at 8:19 of the second stanza on Fortier's second goal of the game. Garrett Stafford picked off the puck at the blue line and passed the puck to Dumont at the right circle. Dumont quickly slid the puck to Fortier at the bottom of the circle who shot the puck past the blocker of Scrivens.

The Bulldogs took the lead at 15:30 of the second period on a goal by Aaron Palushaj. After picking up the puck from Nattinen on the right wing boards, Palushaj walked out and backhanded the puck from the right circle over the glove of Scrivens.

Hamilton scored their fifth goal of the game at 6:52 of the third frame on a goal by Dumont. Philip DeSimone fed a pass to Dumont who was stationed at the right circle. Dumont spun around and whipped a shot over the glove of Scrivens. Andreas Engqvist added an empty net goal at 19:58. Robert Mayer, who relieved Lawson in the first period, made 29 saves for the win.
