Taffe's OT Winner Lifts Aeros over San Antonio

HOUSTON ---- Jeff Taffe scored 1:03 into overtime to give the Houston Aeros a 2-1 win over the San Antonio Rampage Monday night at Toyota Center in front of 8,384 fans.

Taffe's power play goal was Houston's first overtime or shootout win of the season and first since March 15 against Milwaukee. Houston improved to 17-6-2-7 and climbed back to second place in the AHL's West Division, a point back of Oklahoma City.

Chad Rau scored his seventh goal of the season, and Justin Fontaine and Jon DiSalvatore each had two assists. Matt Hackett made 20 saves.

Rau tied the score at 1-1 with a power play goal at 13:40 of the third period.

Michael Caruso staked San Antonio a 1-0 lead at the 3:31 mark of the second period with his first goal of the season.

Houston travels to San Antonio on Friday to take on the Rampage at the AT&T Center at 7:05 p.m. before hosting the Oklahoma City Barons at 5:05 p.m. Sunday at Toyota Center.
