P-Bruins Winning Streak Snapped at Four

Manchester, NH - The Providence Bruins fell to the Manchester Monarchs 4-1 Monday evening at the Verizon Wireless Arena, snapping their four game winning streak. The P-Bruins got their goal from Josh Hennessy. The P-Bruins are back in action Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. against the Portland Pirates at the Cumberland County Civic Center and will be hosting a road game party at Rick's Roadhouse in Providence.

The Monarchs took a 1-0 lead 40 seconds into the opening period. Justin Johnson tallied his first goal of the season, while Marc-Andre Clicheand J.D. Watt recorded the assists. Manchester led 1-0 going into the first intermission.

Manchester made it 2-0 at the 6:00 mark of the second period. Linden Veynetted his eighth goal of the season, while Thomas Hickey picked up the lone assist. Providence pulled within a goal at the 8:52 mark. Craig Cunningham had the puck in the neutral zone and fed it to Hennessy who was breaking through two Monarchs defenseman. Hennessy slipped the puck into the net for his tenth goal of the season. Manchester retook a two-goal advantage at the 11:42 mark. Robbie Czarnik scored his second goal of the season, while Brandon Kozun had the lone assist. The Monarchs made it 4-1 at the 19:26 mark, while on the power play. Watt tallied his first goal of the season, with Vey and Andrew Campbellgetting the assists. Manchester led 4-1 going into the second intermission.

After a scoreless third period Manchester went onto the 4-1 victory.

Anton Khudobin stopped 23 of 27 shots for the P-Bruins, while Martin Jones made 30 saves for the Monarchs. The P-Bruins were 0-for-8 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The P-Bruins return to The Dunk Friday, January 6 for T-Shirt Night at 7:05 p.m. against the Pirates.
